How to Improve your Home with Feng Shui

Your home is – or should be – your palace. You go back there at the end of a long day of work. You want to be able to relax and unwind. But what if something feels off? Not everyone is a believer in the art of feng shui, but if you are, and want to improve your house, here are some quick tips.

Front door

Keep your front door open and inviting. This provides a way for positive energy to enter your dwelling. If you are daring enough to paint your front door a vibrant colour, look for a shade of red. This colour symbolises and attracts fortune, energy, and luck.

Keeping your windows open and free of blockages is beneficial in two ways. Firstly, it allows positive energy in, allowing your home to be lit by the sun’s natural light. Secondly, it brings in much needed fresh air. If the weather does not permit your windows to be open, make sure they are clean and clear.

Aiming for minimalism in your house can sometimes be easier said than done. Start by walking around your house and looking for old newspapers and moving boxes that haven’t yet been recycled. Go through your files and receipts, getting rid of what you don’t need, but still making sure to keep the important pieces. Sell any unwanted items, and build your room’s decor from scratch. Don’t be afraid of bare walls. By decluttering, you can think more clearly and move more freely.

Plants are a great way of revitalising your home. The open air and light from your now open windows and door will allow them to thrive.

It is believed that mirrors reflect energy. By placing mirrors around your home, you can help bring in positivity. Angle the mirrors so they are pointed at positive things such as plants and beautiful artworks. Avoid adding them to bedrooms, however.

Keep the minimalism trend going by decluttering your bedroom. Don’t store things under your bed as they interfere with the clear mind you are trying to achieve. If you have double-mattresses, feng shui teaches that by putting specific items in between them, it will have an effect in your life.

Turn your bathroom into a relaxing oasis. Once you have properly aligned your surroundings, take a bath in beautiful scented products available from, getting your body ready for sleep and open to the new harmonies created in your bedroom.

You can improve the look and feel of your home even by aligning the plants in your garden. Consider consulting a feng shui professional about where to place a water feature.

If you have limit time or funds to feng shui your house, focus on the bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom. These three areas are thought to have the strongest influence. You do not need to be a feng shui believer for these tips to work. Minimalism and structure will benefit anyone.
